\u3010About Ubiik<\/strong>\u3011<\/strong><\/p>

Ubiik is a telecommunications company that delivers high-performance wireless connectivity solutions for especially utility and industrial applications. In Taiwan, its core service focuses on the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) communication solution for smart metering.<\/p>

\u3010Reasons for Selecting Ubiik as the Internship Company<\/strong>\u3011<\/strong><\/p>

When searching for an internship, three criteria were essential to me:<\/p>

  1. Exposure to a variety of HR functions to build broader practical understanding.<\/li>
  2. Opportunities to learn about the tech industry, which had previously been less familiar.<\/li>
  3. An open culture where employees enjoy high autonomy.<\/li><\/ol>

    Based on these criteria, Ubiik matched what I was looking for in an internship.<\/p>

    \u3010Main Responsibilities During the Internship<\/strong>\u3011<\/strong><\/p>

    1. Recruiting
      Supported end-to-end hiring for specific internship positions \u2014 from discussing hiring needs with managers, resume screening, proactive sourcing, and phone interviews, to preparing hiring proposals and onboarding.<\/li>
    2. Learning & Development
      Assisted with annual training record audits and course completion checks.<\/li>
    3. Personnel Administration
      Handled attendance record maintenance, contract-to-regular conversion processes, offboarding procedures, and group insurance applications.<\/li>
    4. North America HR Administrative Support
      Prepared payroll reports after monthly payroll processing and supported ad-hoc requests or small projects from the North America team.<\/li>
    5. Employer Branding
      Served as the owner of company visits and coordinated the overall experience.<\/li>
    6. Expense Administration
      Managed Team-Building expenses and travel reimbursements for North America employees.<\/li><\/ol>

      \u3010Key Learning Outcomes<\/strong>\u3011<\/strong><\/p>

      The internship provides a chance to gain practical exposure to multiple HR functions within a small- to medium-sized organization. Daily tasks are diverse and cover more than one HR area, helping interns develop a comprehensive understanding of HR operations. In addition, my supervisor encourages interns to take ownership, contribute ideas, and explore ways to optimize workflow efficiency. This environment offers a fast-paced and meaningful learning experience.<\/p>

      \u3010Advice for Future HR Students<\/strong>\u3011<\/strong><\/p>

      Entering the HR field requires the ability to embrace the mess. Many real-world HR situations aren\u2019t described in textbooks, and each function becomes clearer only through practice.<\/p>

      It is helpful to consider whether to first develop broad exposure across HR or deepen expertise in a specific area. Staying updated on labor regulations through government websites and participating in HR communities can also strengthen professional awareness.<\/p>

      HR practices differ a lot between companies, even in the same industry. Being adaptable and keeping an open mindset helps you grow, contribute, and thrive in different workplaces.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
