During my internship at ASML Taiwan’s Talent Acquisition team, I experienced what it means to work in a global HR environment shaped by speed, precision and cross-cultural collaboration. The European-influenced culture was very different from the Taiwanese workplaces I was familiar with. I appreciated the direct communication style, the respect for personal boundaries and the strong emphasis on independent ownership, all of which accelerated my professional growth.

My main responsibilities included supporting campus recruitment activities, MT program coordination and diversity hiring initiatives. What influenced me the most was realizing that HR is not just about filling vacancies, but also about building a talent pipeline that aligns with organizational values and long-term strategy. This perspective helped me better understand the strategic importance of talent acquisition in a highly competitive semiconductor industry.

A significant part of my growth came from managing expectations and communicating with stakeholders. Navigating different working styles between European and Taiwanese teams was challenging, but it pushed me to strengthen my communication skills and present my suggestions with more clarity and confidence. Through these experiences, I learned that becoming a solid HR professional requires more than technical proficiency. It also demands maturity, adaptability and the ability to handle ambiguity.

Throughout the internship, I also became more comfortable using tools such as Workday, Excel and Power BI. These skills allowed me to approach recruitment from a more data-informed perspective and helped me understand how HR decisions can influence business outcomes, especially in an industry facing ongoing talent shortages.

This internship gave me greater clarity about my career path. Experiencing different aspects of talent acquisition confirmed my interest in pursuing an HR Business Partner role in the semiconductor field. I gained a deeper appreciation for how HR contributes to organizational development and employee experience.

Overall, this experience strengthened my professional capabilities and shaped my long-term career direction. It helped me understand the type of HR professional I aspire to become and reinforced my commitment to developing a career in global high-tech organizations.
