My first internship at LCY CHEMAL CORP., a leading chemical and materials company established in 1965, has been a very meaningful experience for me. As an HR intern, I had the chance to learn about different areas within HR and understand how the HR function actually operates inside a large organization.

About 60% of my work was related to supporting a project on HR system transformation. During this process, I learned how to operate the HR system step by step and gradually became familiar with the company’s overall organizational structure. Understanding how LCY is built and how different departments connect with each other helped me see the “big picture” behind HR operations. This part of my internship really improved my ability to work with systems and gave me a clearer idea of how HR data flows within a company.

Another 25% of my responsibilities involved assisting the Learning and Development (LD) team with training activities. My tasks included preparing training materials, checking participant numbers, coordinating logistics on the day of the training, and helping with follow-up actions afterward. Through these experiences, I learned how much preparation goes into each training session and how important attention to detail is for ensuring everything runs smoothly. It also allowed me to practice communication and coordination across different teams.

The remaining 15% of my work gave me the chance to support the recruitment team. Recruitment wasn’t my main duty, but I still gained exposure by joining several campus recruitment events with my colleagues. My role was mostly on-site support and helping students understand the company. Even though it was a smaller portion of my job, it helped me see how recruitment works in real situations and how companies interact with potential candidates.

Looking back, I feel that I gained a lot from this internship because I was able to explore different functions within HR instead of focusing on only one area. Every task—big or small—taught me something new. I also appreciated the opportunity to observe how HR supports the company from behind the scenes and how each part contributes to the whole. Overall, this internship was a very valuable journey for me, and it strengthened my interest in continuing to develop in the HR field.
