Company: TomTom Navigation

Position: Talent acquisition (sourcing)

I have been looking for an opportunity to work in a HR position for a long time. However, as a foreigner in Taiwan, finding a job is a bit tricky because of the Chinese language ability. I am aware that my Chinese is more suitable for daily life conversation, rather than working environment. Luckily, in the summer of 2022, I got an internship at TomTom as Talent acquisition, and the company using English as main language. My responsibility is to assist my supervisor to sourcing prospect profiles for the open positions through LinkedIn recruit, writing job posts to promote the open jobs and some additional projects. The work was not hard, but very time consuming, therefore, I have to learn how to deliver the quality work on time.

During the internship, my supervisor- Evelyn, she was more than a supervisor. She taught me a lot of meaningful things, from the basic such as how to perform the tasks, to giving me career development advice. She was very strict, which is good, because I believe that help me built the solid foundation for my knowledge. She also opens to listen to my proposal and give me feedback on my work. Besides of work, she encouraged me to spend some time during the work hours to learn new skills on the online learning platform of TomTom.  After I finished my internship in TomTom, I gained new skills to add on my CV, understand the business point of view when hiring talents, and more important, I understand more about my abilities, what I am good at, and what I need to develop for the future job.
