The IHRD course committee member meeting was held today. It is our honor to have Ms. Su, head of HR from Standard Charted and our alumni Howard, senior HR specialist here to share their views on today’s topic: How to continue develop HR skills in workplace & What skill should a junior staff cultivate to be a manager.
Ms. Su shared that it is important to keep learning by one’s self when they step into workplace. As an HR, human skill, technology, EQ & empathy are necessary skills. Cross generation communication is what an HR will face very often and the ability of data collecting, analyzing and information security are all needs for an HR nowadays.
Howard talked about skills a manager should have. To grow-self, grow-others and grow organization. Keep open minded and adjust self’s attitude helps to grow self, always give clear direction and constructive feedback helps to grow others, internalize organization’s strategy and explain to subordinates in easy words helps to grow organization.
We have gained a lot through this meeting and hope to deliver these precious opinions in the courses in near future.
